SOMA

SOMA

Co-directed by Muriel Bourdeau and Julien Herrault, SOMA is a hybrid art space located in the artists' quarter of Cours Julien in Marseille.

SOMA is both a contemporary art gallery dedicated to exhibiting artworks and promoting artists, as well as a canteen and bar that hosts a new DJ set or concert every Thursday night.

Each month, numerous events are scheduled, including conferences, workshops, exhibitions, lectures, and much more, in addition to the artist in residence.
Conceptually, the black square represents a piece of tape, often used by artists for displaying, installing, and presenting their artworks - it sometimes even becomes part of the artwork itself.

Its graphic form, applied to the wordmark, conveys the idea of affixing an artwork to the walls of SOMA and thus connects the place to its main intention: the display of artworks.
